At every turn in Bridgend County Borough there is adventure waiting to happen, from the exhilarating mountain biking trails high in the valleys near Blaengarw, to the swells and breaks of Rest Bay.

The county borough is home to just 11½ of the 870-mile Wales Coastal Path but, boy, do we make the most of it with dramatic dunes, award-winning beaches, eye-catching castles and National Nature Reserves.

Here are just some of the activities you can enjoy if you live or work in Bridgend County Borough:

  • Climb the mighty ‘Big Dipper’, one of Europe’s tallest sand dunes. Feel the rush as you sled to the bottom!
  • Skip across stepping stones in the shadow of the mighty Ogmore Castle before wandering the ancient ruins
  • On your bike – show your mountain bike some real action in the forests or dust down your family bikes and ride the dozens of community paths that link up with the Celtic Trail national cycle route, or just meander through the beautiful country lanes and villages

  • Explore the golden sands of Rest Bay, a haven for surfing, body boarding and countless other watersports
